On Wednesday, Jan 25, 2012, our van was loaded up with 30 dogs and puppies to make the long drive to a receiving rescue in the Northeast. Normally, the trip goes off without a hitch but this time our van's transmission decided it was finished. Our volunteer drivers found a mechanic who told them it will be $2000 to rebuild the transmission. We do not have $2000 but we need our van for: trips to the northeast (so we can save more lives), to pull dogs from shelters, to drive our pets to Alpharetta/Milton for Petco Adoption Days, to get our dogs and cats to the vet and for many other functions. We knew we were in a pickle.
The plea went out to all of our followers, friends, and supporters to tell them what happened. We received some very generous donations, for which we are very grateful but we still needed funds to pay the mechanics. A very kind couple offered to buy a Kindle Fire for us to auction off to raise the funds to pay for the transmission. (THANK-YOU!) We were back and forth and finally decided on a price of $5 a ticket.
Starting at 6pm EST Friday January 27, 2012 and running through 12pm EST Monday January 30, 2012 we will be selling raffle tickets for a KINDLE FIRE. Each ticket is $5 and you are allowed to buy as many as you would like. If you do not want your tickets in sequential order you are allowed to make multiple $5 donations. Please remember we are a 501(c)3 organization which relies solely on donations to operate and to save lives. We appreciate every single raffle ticket that is purchased. The monies raised by this raffle will be going to pay for the rebuild of the transmission on our Castaway Critters Pet Rescue van.
To buy a raffle ticket for the KINDLE FIRE please send your donation of $5 for the ticket or $10 for 2 or $15 for 3, via paypal, to castawaycrittersrescue@gmail.com. The purchase of a raffle ticket means you agree to and understand the rules listed below.
RULES:
1. Open to residents of the US only (not that we do not love our international friends but it is because of the electricity issues)
2. Must be 18 years of age or older
3. We are more than happy to return your donation any time before the winning ticket number is announced. HOWEVER, after the winning ticket number is announced there will not be any refunds of any sort or kind. We are a charity using this raffle to raise the funds to repair our transmission for our pet transport van.
4. Tickets will be issued in the order in which the donations are received starting with the number 101. Donors who donated before the start of the raffle will also be included. The tickets will be issued, starting with 101 and continuing sequentially from there, to the first person who donated to the transmission repair on Wed Jan 25, 2012 and then so on. If you do not want your tickets in sequential order you are allowed to make multiple $5 donations.
5. The couple who donated the KINDLE FIRE would like us to sell a minimum of 400 tickets. So the raffle is not ended without a winner please spread the word among your friends, family and colleagues so we reach the 400 ticket mark. If you do not want your tickets in sequential order you are allowed to make multiple $5 donations. For $5 you have a 1 in 400 chance to win a KINDLE FIRE, pretty good odds.
6. This raffle is for a KINDLE FIRE only, it is not for web service, it is not for a KINDLE FIRE cover, it is not for anything but the KINDLE FIRE device.
