When Maggie came in as a found stray she was very pregnant and placed in a foster home. A few days later she had four beautiful kittens. That same day two more newborns were added to her, rescued from animal control. Eventually Maggie was ‘mother’ to 11 babies! She is a very small cat with a BIG personality. Just a baby herself, she loves to play, is loving and affectionate. She is a gorgeous calico with a plush, soft coat. Maggie is spayed, up-to-date on shots, perfectly house trained and well mannered. Contact us if you want to give Maggie a corner of your heart and a space in your home. Call 706-781-3992 or email castaway_critters @ hotmail.com to get the ball rolling.

Maggie is a Small Cat With a Big Personality
Radar and Pilot

Dumped at the dump! Actually at the Clay County transfer station. These tiny babies were delivered to us by an employee working there. Too little to be weaned, they were lucky to survive until we introduced them Kona, a momma cat whose kittens had just all been adopted. Kona accepted them and is doing a great job raising them in a foster home. So even though it was a rocky beginning for Radar and Pilot, they're on their way to happy times now! Applications are being accepted now for when they are old enough to be adopted. Call 706-781-3992 or email castaway_critters @ hotmail.com.
Spunky Needs a Home
Castaway received a call a couple weeks ago about a tiny kitten in an abandoned car and of course we went to investigate. There we found Spunky, hollering like crazy and only 3 weeks old. Back at the shelter he was adopted by a momma cat whose kittens had already been adopted and joined all the other, much bigger kittens in the nursery. No problem for Spunky! He just barges right in to lap up goat milk and canned food, pushing out anyone in his way. Spunky is about 6 weeks old now and we are accepting applications for his adoption.
If you're interested in Spunky, call 706-781-3992 or email castaway_critters @ hotmail.com.
Mews Flash: Shelter Cats Deliver Food to Shelter Dogs.

Mews Flash
Shelter Cats Deliver Food to Shelter Dogs. Score a Big One for the Kitties!
A seemingly endless supply of canned dog food has been donated by Ann King of the Save Our Pets Food Bank of Atlanta. The food was delivered to our volunteers at PetSmart and filled every spare nook and cranny of the Cat Transport Van for the delivery ride back to the shelter. Thank you Ann for this exceptional donation… and thanks to the kitties for sharing the van.
Rex, The Best Puppy Ever
In reply to our first newsletter, we received this wonderful email: On February 14, 2009 we went to PetSmart and saw 3 little puppies that Castaway had rescued. We were there just to visit, but ended up after three hours adopting the best puppy ever. Before we left the store my son named the little black 10 lb. puppy Rex and what a wonderful addition to our family. Rex is now 2 years old, 28 lbs. and we are so happy that he is a part of our family. Let’s be honest, he is one spoiled little dog. I want to thank Castaway for allowing our family to adopt and love this precious dog. We can’t image our life without him. We encourage other families to adopt a pet through Castaway like we did, you won’t be sorry! Regards, Carol E. and her very happy family

Buddy the Cat - An Update From His New Family
From an email we received from Tonka's (now known as Buddy) new family: I've been meaning to write to tell you how much we are enjoying our new cat. He can't wait to see us in the mornings, so happy and purring and rubbing up against us - well me more than Marlene. He hasn't started getting on the bed but he is waiting in my chair for his first brushing of the day. He's so frisky and playful in the mornings for about an hour and then he sleeps all day. He knows his name and will come to me. He likes being on the screened porch and every evening we play with a feather toy. He will sit/lay on my lap for a short time. And he still has to have some dog food as I fed the dogs as to not be neglected. ~ Kay J.

Quarantined, vetted, socialized pups need rescue/adoption
UPDATE!! HOORAY!!! The puppies have been invited to go to a wonderful rescue in CT!! YAY! for the puppies!! Now they just need a little help with bus fare to be on their way
http://castawaycritterspetrescue.chipin.com/litter-of-8-puppies-heading-to-ct
UPDATE!! All 8 puppies are also spayed and neutered. They are so incredibly adorable and sweet, we are not sure why no one has shown any interest in them.
A few weeks ago a good friend of Castaway Critters Pet Rescue (CCPR) asked us if we could possibly foster a litter of 8 lab mix puppies. We did not hesitate to say yes as the friend has always been willing to help us when it was needed. We were told the pups only needed 2 weeks and then they were headed to a rescue in MD. We could do two weeks. Well, that was 7 (yes 7) weeks ago. The rescue kept saying next week, next week and finally said nope, sorry we are not taking the puppies. We will not get into that here. It is very upsetting to our friend, because, like us, she never pulls dogs or cats without a confirmed rescue or adopter in place.
The puppies are so incredibly sweet but they are just not getting adopted in GA so we are asking for rescues or adopters from other areas to please, please consider these sweet babies. They are 12.5 weeks and have had 3 rounds of shots and have been dewormed twice. They are socialized and loving. They would love to be in their forever homes for Christmas. There is a transport available and it is leaving Friday Dec 3 to arrive in the Northeast on Saturday Dec 4th. If you are interested in rescuing or adopting one of these adorable pups please email us at castawaycritterrescue@gmail.com
