Happy Tails - Winky

Happy Tails

Winky aka GraceWe got this update through our Facebook page: Hi!! I just adopted the most amazing cat ever and I believe she was born in your shelter! I wanted to give you an update on her if this is in fact the shelter our angel Winky was born at. We took her home on 5/4 and from the very minute she stepped out of the crate she was home. We renamed her Grace because we felt it was a name that suited her personality so well. We have a house with another cat named Jack and a dog named Molly. We also have 2 children. Grace is perfect with the kids. Some friends have already visited to say hi to Grace and she was a perfect little lady!! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking such wonderful care of our sweet girl for us until God lead us to her. She is an absolute perfect fit for our family and we are so in love with her!!

Happy Tails - Alice

Happy Tails

AliceWhen Alice came into the shelter she was very shy, could hardly walk and was afraid of everything.  She was surrendered because her family was divorcing and neither wanted her.  Alice and the family that adopted her came to visit at one of our recent adoption events.  She is over 11 years old and now thriving!

Many Hands Make Light Work

Many Hands Make Light Work

reaching outCCPR is a volunteer-run organization, literally. Other than a few paid employees to keep the shelters clean, everything else that occurs in relation to CCPR happens because a volunteer did it. All of the pet adoption events, community night dinners, fashion shows, golf tournaments, yard sales, trips to the vets, dog walking, paying bills, picking up supplies, social media outreach -- this newsletter -- everything you can think of is organized and run by volunteers who care deeply for all of the castaway critters that come under our guardianship.

But don't be fooled. We always welcome -- and need -- more volunteers!

Remember "Many hands make light work": It doesn't matter how much time you can donate because every little bit helps. There are many ways in which you can assist us in addition to what is mentioned above. If there is something you specialize in which you believe will benefit CCPR and you're willing to offer your expertise… please do!

Volunteering is a great way to make friends with other animal lovers and to know you're making a difference in the lives of unwanted animals… until they find forever homes.

To join our team, please email us or call 706-781-3992 -- you don't have to be local!

"I will try my best, even if it's to save just one."

Here are just a few quick pictures of some of the babies we saved from death within the hour of termination. They all will have a chance at life again and a forever home thanks to CCPR and its employees/volunteers that strive to make a difference.

If you look into their eyes you can see them say thank you. Everyone that I had touched after the release from animal control said thank you by licking my hand.

When I got that email with all the sad pictures, I felt an urge to open it and ask myself "What can I do to help?" It bothered me all night till I just came to the fact that "I will try my best, even if it's to save just one." And when I arrived at work, the animal control in Clayton Ga. had contacted Adeana at CCPR and she gave them my number. When I was asked to help, I said "yes!" without any doubt. Did I know if I had permission to do so? Would CCPR want to get involved? Where the heck would I put 6 dogs when everyone knows how full the shelter already was? These questions didn't come to me till I was off the phone and stood there in shock. But I knew if I pleaded my case and show people how strongly I felt about this someone would come together with me and we would make it happen.

So the next step was to get permission. I called Terry up and got the green light. He supported the idea. Then I heard from Martha that June was on her way to the shelter and wanted to talk to me about this. June did not give it a second thought and even offered to go with me to Clayton, Ga. Thanks to everyone for the follow through to make this become reality...not just a thought!

Do you see that all it takes is the will and the desire to make a difference?

The point of this letter is to give you the spark that you remember you had when you first decided to work with CCPR and decided to make a difference. Keep up the good work, and keep looking for the forever homes that every animal wishes they had!

Please forward this to anyone that has forgotten what it feels like to step up and rescue the innocent!!!

Thanks-Chris

Happy Tails - Dylan

Happy Tails

Cat of the Month: Samantha

SamanthaMeet our Cat of the Month: Samantha may be 'just' a little black cat but she is so special when you meet her.  Samantha was taken from a hoarder situation where she spent the first years of her life in an outdoor cage, living a horrible existence.  Never handled or loved, Samantha amazed us all with her willingness to love and trust.  She has become a 'kitchen' cat at the shelter, preferring to be in the room where she gets the most human contact and attention.  Her eyes follow you constantly as she hopes you will come back to her for just one more pet!  She is quiet and well behaved and always available.  This adorable little creature wants someone to love her and a home of her own so badly - is she the one you've been waiting for?

As our featured Pet of the Month, adoption fees are half the normal amount. However, if you don't have room for another kitty and would like to sponsor Samantha instead, please call 706-781-3992 or email for more information.

Dog of the Month: Katey

KateyMeet our Dog of the Month: Katey was found wandering the highway with her brothers and sisters. She is the little runt of the litter, but good things come in small packages!  Katey is incredibly sweet, loveable and likes to cuddle and be in a lap for snuggle time.  She is playful and likes everyone including kids and other dogs.  She loves to play with her toys, especially the soft fuzzy ones!  In her foster home she has learned all her manners: she is housebroken, crate and leash trained.  Katey is fully vetted and looking for her forever family.  Please call Barbara at 706-745-0035 if you would like to meet Katey.

As our featured Pet of the Month, adoption fees are half the normal amount. However, if you don't have room for another  doggie and would like to sponsor Katey instead, please call 706-781-3992 or email for more information.
